Self-Avoiding Walks over Adaptive Unstructured Grids

چکیده
In this paper, we present self-avoiding walks as a novel technique to \linearize" a triangular mesh. Unlike spacelling curves which are based on a geometric embedding, our algorithm is combinatorial since it uses the mesh connectivity only. We also show how the concept can be easily modi ed for adaptive grids that are generated in a hierarchical manner based on a set of simple rules, and made amenable for e cient parallelization. The proposed approach should be very useful in the runtime partitioning and load balancing of adaptive unstructured grids.

Self - avoiding walks over adaptiveunstructured
SUMMARY In this paper, we present self-avoiding walks as a novel technique to \linearize" an unstructured mesh. Unlike space-lling curves which are based on a geometric embedding, our strategy is combinatorial since it uses the mesh connectivity only. We formulate a linear time-complexity algorithm for the construction of these self-avoiding walks over a triangular mesh. We also show how the co...
متن کاملSelf-Avoiding Walks Over Adaptive Triangular Grids
In this paper, we present a new approach to constructing a "self-avoiding" walk through a triangular mesh. Unlike the popular approach of visiting mesh elements using space-filling curves which is based on a geometric embedding, our approach is combinatorial in the sense that it uses the mesh connectivity only. We present an algorithm for constructing a sell avoiding walk which can be applied t...
متن کاملAdaptive Unstructured Grid Generation Scheme for Solution of the Heat Equation
An adaptive unstructured grid generation scheme is introduced to use finite volume (FV) and finite element (FE) formulation to solve the heat equation with singular boundary conditions. Regular grids could not acheive accurate solution to this problem. The grid generation scheme uses an optimal time complexity frontal method for the automatic generation and delaunay triangulation of the grid po...
متن کاملAn Overset Adaptive Cartesian/Prism Grid Method for Moving Boundary Flow Problems
The use of overset grids in CFD started more than two decades ago, and has achieved tremendous success in handling complex geometries. In particular, overset grids have the advantage of avoiding grid remeshing when dealing with moving boundary flow problems. Traditionally overset grids were mainly used with structured grids to simplify the grid generation process, because a complex computationa...
متن کاملThe complexity of counting self-avoiding walks in subgraphs of two-dimensional grids and hypercubes
Valiant (SIAM J. Comput. 8 (1979) 410–421) showed that the problem of computing the number of simple s–t paths in graphs is #P-complete both in the case of directed graphs and in the case of undirected graphs. Welsh (Complexity: Knots, Colourings and Counting, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1993, p. 17) asked whether the problem of computing the number of self-avoiding walks of a given ...
